The portrait of the President Halonen and Kultaranta

In 2002, Wardi was asked to paint the official portrait of the president Tarja Halonen, which caused a stir. Unlike any other presidential portrait, it is made with pastels. The president chose to have the portrait made in her summer residence Kultaranta, in Naantali. The artist and the president became friends during the process. Wardi became a regular summer visitor in Kultaranta where he painted its garden, plants and warm, yellow sunsets. The president is portrayed in a room with yellow walls. In the top left-hand corner, we can see a sculpture from the garden of Kultaranta. In the top right-hand corner opens a view to another room.
