- About Ateneum
Another sign of Wardi's versatility is his collaboration with the Austrian-born director Lisbeth Landefort. Landefort admired Wardi's colourful paintings and decided to ask him to visualise an opera she directed and to design costumes for it. The first result of the collaboration was the Magic Flute by W.A.Mozart in the Tampere Workers' Theatre that was realised together with the Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences in 2004. The family opera Bastien and Bastienne by Mozart followed the next year, produced for the Finnish National Opera in cooperation with soloists from the Finnish Chamber Opera and ballet students from the Finnish National Opera. In 2007, Landefort directed Zaide by Mozart, again for the Finnish National Opera, and with Wardi providing the visualisation and costume design. Ritva Sarlund was in charge of the execution of the costumes for all the operas.
