Alongside the main exhibition of Italian art, Ateneum presents 20th-century graphic art from 15 other countries, especially Japan and the USA.
Many 20th-century masters are represented in the museum's collections, particularly by their prints. These include the Belgian surrealist Paul Delvaux, the Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti who is known for his elongated figures, the German-born American artist Josef Albers, whose art explored the interaction between squares and colours, and the British expressionist Francis Bacon.
