Ateneum will host a major centenary exhibition presenting Tove Jansson’s impressive career as an artist, illustrator, political caricaturist, author and creator of the Moomin characters and stories.

The centenary exhibition that ended today proved that the multi skilled artist holds a special place in the hearts of both Finns and international visitors alike. The sum total of visitors to the exhibition rose to 293,837.

The exhibition opened on 14 March 2014 and was surrounded by a variety of supporting activities, including guided tours for more than 1200 groups, mini stages with supporting outfits for photography by visitors, and audio guide tours, narrated by Tuula Karjalainen, the curator of the exhibition.

Introductory talks in Finnish every Thursday and Sunday, in English on even-numbered weeks on Sundays at 12.

The collection display

Ateneum's collections are kept on public display on the museum's ground floor. The collection display presents Finnish classic art in a new light.
