- About Ateneum
C. G. Mannerheim owned several horses in his lifetime. Andermann was a gelding from Hannover which he rode in the 1930s. Mannerheim bought it in Sweden and trained it at the Guards Manege in Helsinki. He was often seen in the mornings riding Andermann from Töölö through Munkkiniemi to the Tali Manor. He praised his horse: “It is most suitable for an old gentleman who only rides for the exercise. It is not easily startled and is well trained.” Andermann died in 1939. Its skeleton was donated to the Museum of Natural History in Helsinki.
