Work and love were the two most important things for Tove Jansson throughout her life. She often combined the two by working together with her lovers, and she liked to depict paradise scenes and settings. The most famous of them is the Moominvalley.
Maritime Helsinki was Tove Jansson’s home. She lived in the districts of Katajanokka, Töölö and, for several decades, Ullanlinna. She painted numerous landscapes and views, as well as interiors from Helsinki.
Jansson was active in liberal leftist cultural circles. Although averse to party politics, she had strong views on political issues.
